Heirs to an Empire is an alternative history set in the Regency era.
The Empire is divided into 16 Duchies, each of these are ruled by a family descended from supernatural creatures known colloquially as FAE.
Possessing different abilities and powers these families rule both the mundane world and the dreaming.
In these first few episodes we will chronologically go through a few scenes establishing what has happened leading up to the present day of 1762.
EPISODE 01
in the beginning
The first episode of the Radio Drama and Pod "Heirs to an Empire" made and produced by Danger Boiz Productions. This is the first ever episode we are putting together so keep it in mind as this is a pilot of a passion project created by a group of artists who have a shared passion for storytelling. Heirs to an Empire is an alternative history set in the Regency era. The Empire is divided into 16 Duchies, each of these are ruled by a family descended from supernatural creatures known colloquially as FAE. Possessing different abilities and powers these families rule both the mundane world and the dreaming. In these first few episodes we will chronologically go through a few scenes establishing what has happened leading up to the present day of 1762. Scene 1: Mariya's Birth Gruscha calls in some kiths to ensure Mariya has the correct upbringing Smiley - Duchess Grusha Khiteeve of the Duchy of a Thousand Lakes, the ruler of this area of the Empire and now a mother. Ian - Nynorska the Redcap, mercenary and bodyguard for hire. Called here on business by the duchess. Butch and brooding she belives in strength over mercy. Joe - Polina the Eshu, a young servant girl and soon to be chambermaid of the young Mariya. She is shy and prone to crying Alice - Alexandria Schutz the Sluagh, a stern teacher who enjoys the carrot and stick method of teaching but leaves out the carrot. Scene 2: Bear Hunt The Emperor and his friends go bear hunting Smiley - Duke Montgomery Savage of the Duchy of Red Soil, war marshal and in charge of the emperor's safety. Boisterous and built like a brickhouse he has started and ended many wars in his time. Robert - His Majesty Emperor Petyr, the current ruler of the empire. In this scene he is still in his younger years and free to roam around under the supervision of his safety escorts. Ian - Duke Avram Varich of the Duchy of Canaan, a man who believes that god speaks through him in visions of prophecy. If it werent for his immense power in the south he would be considered a madman. Joe - Duke Alejandro de Leon of the Duchy of Gold, Known for his charm and adventures across the continents. Alice - Duke Sylvester Valda of the Duchy of Glass, one the emperor's closer friends as he is closer in age to the young emperor. Nero - Duke Reiner von Adler of the Duchy of White Sea, an outdoorsman through and through here to guide the emperor on a bearhunt, always with his trusted harpy eagle Hjördis by his side. Scene 3: Wormwood Party The Neighboring noble families of the north visit the Duchy of the Shrouded Isles to celebrate the young lord Marlowe Wormwoods tenth birthday. Smiley - Duchess Grusha Khiteeve Robert - Marchioness Moira Wormwood of the duchy of the shrouded isles, a quiet and reserved woman married to Duke Wormwood's son who went missing a few years ago. Manfred - Marquess Laurenz von Adler, Duke von Adlers curious son. Joe - Duke Enoch Wormwood, of the duchy of the shrouded isles. A crass and disgusting old man. Gout ridden and feeble he sits in his wheelchair at all times. Nero - Duke Reiner von Adler, a disappointed father. Scene 1: Family and Jacob Meeting Ismael gathers the siblings of House vaRich to go against their father Nero - Marquess Ishmael vaRich, Heir of house vaRich and a man of action who is tired of his fathers mad ramblings. Ian - Lady Magdalena vaRich, the middle child. She is a hot headed and manipulative, forever envious of the attention that her brothers get when she sees herself as the sole provider of the bread and butter of the duchy. Alice - Lord Isaac vaRich, the Youngest of the vaRich siblings and his father Duke vaRich's favorite. Born later than his siblings he is the same age as his nephew Jacob whom he hates and sees as a rival. Joe - Count Javob vaRich, Ishmaels only son. A smart young man with ideas far off from his familys ideal. Mentioned in this episode: Duke Avram vaRich the leader and self-proclaimed prophet of the Duchy of Canaan Scene 2: The Cesspool Doctor The young duo of Lady Sylvia Valda and Marchess Laurenz von Adler explore the City of Cesspool when they encounter a nasty illness up close. Smiley - Creepy Bar Sluagh, purveyor of poisons. Robert - Lord Marlowe Wormwood, the second and younger grandson to Duke Wormwood. Scarred over half his face and a thorough pessimist. He keeps his family afloat through his diligent work. Ian - Bouncer Troll, a smooth brain guard. Manfred - Marchess Laurenz von Adler, now seen in his early teens. Still as nosey as before. Joe - Barkeep Satyr, a concerned father. Alice - Lady Sylvia Valda, an inquisitive and unruly lady. The younger of the two Valda siblings. Nero - Barmaid Satyr daughter of barkeep, an unfortunate young lady who might have angered the wrong witch. Mentioned in this episode: Duke Enoch Wormwood, grandfather to Marlowe. Marchioness Moira Wormwood, mother to Marlowe. Marquess Beauregard Wormwood, lost son to Enoch and Father to Marlowe. Count Ulysses Wormwood, hermit brother to Marlowe. Scene 3: de Leon Cubs Duke Alejandro de Leon is on his deathbed and Duchess Anastasia has to break the news to the children. Joe - Duchess Anastasia de Leon, the Dukes second wife and stepmother to the children. She is barely older than the eldest son and is struggling to keep up with the duties that are now put upon her. Manfred - Marquess Salvatore de Leon, the eldest child and a himbo. Robert - Lord Ignazio de Leon, the middle child and a dandy. Nero - Lady Lola de Leon, the youngest child, bullheaded and ambitious. Still as nosey as before. Alice - Duchess Franzecsa von Adler, the Dukes young second wife and daughter to the Spymaster Duke Borgia. Nero - Duke Reiner von Adler, ruler of the Duchy of the White Sea and a disappointed father. Scene 2: Valda Heart Ceremony Lady Sylvia is chosen to undergo the ceremony of the heartless and crowned the new leader of the region's coven. Smiley - Marchioness Harmony Valda, the wife of Lady Sylvia’s Uncle. A voluptuous and caring woman who wants what she thinks is best for her niece and nephew. Robert - Ms. Tansey Borage, the leader of the heirloom nokers. Ian - Grandmaw, an old woman. Alice - Lady Sylvia Valda, young adult stage. At the cusp of her coming of age ceremony. Scene 3: Judicators court Duke von Adler introduces his son Laurenz as his replacement in the High Judicial Council. Smiley - Duchess Griselda Groan, the giantess leader of the Duchy of the Leviathan. Ian - Count Cusin Valda, Son to Harmony Valda, Cousin to Duke Valda, Duchess Franceska and Duchess Anastasia.
